I am so confused about what to do about people who have been sticking advertising in my comments? Do I delete every one of them, or just let it ride? Any advise would be helpful...

I would moderate comments and get rid of the blatant advertising ones. That's one of the reasons I switched over to wordpress because it's easy to see and block those.
Hollie, I guess it depends on what you think of the ad. I am currently posting and putting my link to my donation site for my race. Not trying to spam just looking for a little help.

Honestly if they haven't asked for permission to advertise i would delete.
I delete. That's why it's my blog - I can do what I choose, and I choose to not let people spam my comments.
I delete it if I don't know them at all. Sometimes people are trying to sell something inappropriate and that makes me a little bit annoyed!
In wordpress it's a bit easier than in blogspot though.

Hi - I struggled with this exact same thing on my own blog. Here's what I decided. If the commenter is providing CONTENT RELATED to your post and a link back (e.g., they have referenced your post on their own blog/site) - then I leave it - no problem. However, if it is clearly spam, delete, delete, delete.
I do not think it is appropriate to advertise on other people's sites without direct permission - that would include seeking race donations or any other cause. You are taking advantage of someone else's hard-earned traffic for personal gain without offering them anything in return.
