I am a teacher!

Today is day 4 of my new career as a Special Ed teacher.

Honestly... I think I'm gonna rock it! Even though in these four days I've been spit on, pooped on, bit, pinched, and put in a head-lock, I love it! I am wore out and happy at the same time. This is always what I've wanted to do.

And about my weight loss... Um...

I know I've gained.

I had a house fire a few weeks ago, and that very night I knew I was eating my stress. Everything is ok. My landlord STILL has not made repairs to my garage (the area burned), but at least the inside of the house is fine. The only thing that sucks is that my outlets are all melted down there, and I don't have use of my washer/dryer. I don't even know if they work, since I haven't been able to plug them in since the fire. The outsides are all melted, but I think they still work!

I have a new friend that is motivating me to lose weight. I've asked her to start helping me, since I am not back on a set schedule each day. And also since I am so busy during the day now I forget to eat, and sometimes don't even have time. I am going to take full advantage and get back on some sort of plan to start losing weight instead of gaining it!

I can't wait until I have a chance to catch up on everyone! I miss my blog friends and the motivation/encouragement I get from you. Keep up the great work!

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the fire - that's so scary! I'm terrified of house fires. I hope your Landlord gets on the ball and fixes things!

I hope you feel better and can get back on track soon :)

I am so proud of you!! There is no failure in trying. I think your great and i think it's so heartening to see the joy you get from helping children with difficulties. It takes a truly special person to do that. You are truly special.

I am so sorry about the fire!! Get renters insurance, suprisingly it's very, very cheap.

Congrats on your teacher status!! How exciting! Sounds like you're really getting into the job, too. :) Is it really work if it makes you happy?

As for the house fire ... I am just glad you are okay! I hope your washer and dryer still work, lol. Maybe it'll start a trend ... melted washer and dryers everywhere! ;)

No worries about the weight. Stress can cause you to gain even if you are eating well and exercising. You have done so well so far - a momentary lapse is okay. You will push through. You're strong!

Make sure you take time to eat. With teaching it can be hard to eat if you are running around all the time but you won't lose in a good way if you don't eat.. Also you'll get low blood sugar and possibly faint... I had that happen in my first year of teaching so I'm not going to let it happen this year. Good luck!

You are awesome and the service you're providing is so needed! Seems like there's been a lot of news stories about children in special education classes being mistreated. I know there are some great teachers out there, but you can't ever have too many! I'm excited for you!

Hi, I was zapping around the web and found your blog. I was terrified, just thinking about your house fire, it's something that can grab me off my feets, just for the stress... it's very scary and stressing... glad you're fine :)
I'm in weight loss to, and as LA said, stress can cause you to gain even if you are eating well and exercising. My nutritionist said that our metabolism get lazy with stress situations and gets hard to loose weight and burn fats. So let this stress times pass and good luck on yuour diet.
Ah, almost forgot ... I'm from Portugal, so sorry for my "dusty" english ;)

My weight loss story: It is never easy to get ride of the unwanted pounds. it takes time, and lots of will power, but can and will be done by many americans. I weighed 220lbs and now weight 140lbs. i had to change a few things to obtain my goals. i started eating alot more healthy, i did more cardio ( walks at first, the joging, swimming, ) even just being out side in the sun mowing the yard help me alot. you just need to be staying active. The total weight loss too around 1yr 3mo. i did not have a gym membership, or any fancy workout equipment. just a treadmill, a sweat suite, ipod, (for motivation), and great family to support me. I made a work out schedule that includes walking or running a certain distance a week. push ups, crunches, and doing some fun yard work. i did not stress my self. dont work too hard or you will not want to work out anymore and your muscles will not heal. work at your own pace. look at food labels before you buy. and enjoy the ride along the way. if i can do it i know you can. Just realize it is not going to happen over night and as long as you keep trying thing will only get better! Best of luck! Please tell me what you do to work out and how much you have lost?

It takes a very special person to teach resource. I could never do it. I taught for ten years from first grade-3rd grade. I loved most of it, and now I stay home with my twins. Good luck on your first year!
